Lebeaux Likely To Leave

In an update to an earlier story this week, Princeton Selectmen have now voted to begin negotiating with our own Selectman, John Lebeaux, in consideration of hiring him to be their Town Administrator.

They unanimously preferred him over the other finalists.

Lebeaux and the Princeton Selectmen will attempt to agree on a contract. If unsuccessful, Princeton will consider one of the other finalists instead of Leabeaux.

It will be a sad day in Shrewsbury when John resigns the BoS. He's been good for the community and we were lucky to have had him for so long.

Good by John L. Good luck.....good riddens, and watch the door on the way out....
This could put Ben T, in the Chairmanship for the next year.....
Also leaving a easy seat for someone to win....hummmmm how about the Plastics guy?

HAHAHAHAHA. That would be must see TV! The other Board Members vote for Chair. Do you really see that happening?

I think the Selectmen appoint vacancies on the Board to fill out the year. Do you really see them appointing the Plastics Guy either? They like him less than they like Ben T.

I'm sure John had a lot to add to the BOS earlier in his tenure, but as of late he hasn't really been adding much to the meetings. I hope he gets this position and moves on to the next chapter in his life. He doesn't seem very happy with his present role.

Interesting. I do have to ask if John has said he would resign from Shrewsbury's BoS. It would likely be difficult to be a TA in one town and a Selectmen in another, but it's not an imposibility. The big question would be if Princeton's BoS meets at the same time as Shrewsbury's. Matter of fact having someone who has to experience the TA side of things might actually be a benefit to Shrewsbury.

When there's a vacancy (which is not yet a sure thing), the remaining members of the board appoint a replacement. They can choose, if they want, not to fill the vacancy. They can choose when to fill the vacancy. If an appointment is made, the newbie keeps the job until the next election, at which time the voters elect a replacement. In the case of Lebeaux's seat, however, the next election is when his seat is up anyway.

I would hope thy would appoint a replacement if John chooses to step down before his term is up. There is alot of work to do before next May's election including a budget that shouldn't be done by only four selectmen. Here's a question; would John have to step down? Other than possibly a conflict with the meeting night of the BOS and duties as Princeton's guy, the man did hold down a full time job while he's served all these years. If we're OK with a selectman working for Makepeace, why not another town?

If one of Ben's Articles had passed Rashid would have gotten about 25% of the vote and been made a Selectman.

Mr. L. has always sent me well written and informative responses when I sent the BOS letters. I was rather impressed with his knowledge during the LWV debate with Mr. Moore. And he has been a businessman in a rather tricky seasonal business for many years with many loyal employees. He has had Boston appointments for some water related committee, etc. I think all of this would make him a great Town Administrator. Princeton is a small town with a new PAYT system, they have their own muni electic system, all of which Mr. L is familiar.

Actually if Mr. Tartaglia's petition passed would Mr. Shakh get the appointment or would it have gone back to who was second when John last ran? If that is the cast then Mr. T. would have won it, then next in line would have been Johanna Musselman--hey maybe it isn't such a bad idea afterall.

No, Missy, Johanna didn't against John, Moira & Ben. She ran the following year.

So who was that fourth candidate in 2007?

I can't remember.
