Our own State Senator, Mike Moore, has endorsed the campaign of Martha Coakley for U.S. Senate.
“I am proud to announce my support of Martha Coakley for U.S. Senate,” said Moore. “She will be someone who will fight for Central Massachusetts families in Washington, and who will represent our hopes and values in the Senate. She is the ideal choice to carry on the legacy of Senator Kennedy.”
“Having grown up in Western Massachusetts, I am keenly aware that our government must work for everyone across the state – from Cape Cod to the Berkshires,” said Coakley, in accepting the endorsement.
“In Washington I will fight for working families in Worcester County and all across the state.”I'm also supporting Coakley in this race, and you'll find a lot of other people from Shrewsbury are backing her campaign. Like her, I'm also from Western Massachusetts, and she brings to the campaign her great integrity. She's a tough prosecutor who's extremely bright and personable. It's time that Massachusetts had a woman representing the Commonwealth in Washington.
Coakley is a candidate to fill the Senate seat of the late Ted Kennedy. The primary election will be held on December 8, with the general election scheduled for January 19, 2010. Learn more at MarthaCoakley.com.

Has anyone you've ever backed ever won, Mark?
Um, yeah, I believe Mark backed Mike Moore. Did he beat your local politician, Mr. Lebeaux?
The feds had to catch our corrupt pols, Martha could not. Why would anyone think she could govern when she couldn't catch the bad apples right under her nose?
...uhhh...because they committed FEDERAL crimes? Yeah, those dealies are usually handled by FEDERAL law enforcement...
My bad, I stand corrected. I previously thought that it was against state law for state oficials to take bribes. I didn't realize that state officials taking bribes only broke federal laws.
From an article about DiMasi:
"[...] indicted on several Federal charges, including conspiracy to defraud the federal government, mail fraud and wire fraud."
Also, regarding any state crimes DiMasi may have committed: in Massachusetts, we have a separate, independent State Ethics Commission, which handles ethics investigations independent of the Attorney General's office.
who's on damage control in those first few posts? Martha's a great choice, sorry for the ill will you feel!
Ethics? Are you serious? We are not talking about taking free lunches at the local diner, but real crimes. Taking bribes is against the law here in Massachusetts. It is far from an ethical consideration.
As far as Coakley goes, she is about the best candidate (with all the Kennedy's otherwise occupied) we can dredge up here in Mass, therefore she is the front-runner unless someone finds something in a closet.
Mark,
I had no idea that you got so giddy after two wine spritzers. You'll need to keep rubbing elbows so you can attend more. The phone book is here and you are somebody now!
