Got 84 Minutes? The Way We Get By

To the Editor:—

If you've got 84 minutes tomorrow, starting at 7pm, I'd like to suggest/encourage you to attend the screening of the independent movie "The Way We Get By." Check out the movie trailer. This screening occurs one night only, tomorrow @ 7:05pm at Oak Middle School and tickets are $5 at the door or in advance with the Parks & Recreation Office.

I was first introduced to this movie by the movie review described on the Boston Globe. From the review, the reason I'm going is "There’s no righteousness in what the greeters do. They’re not super-patriots - or at least they don’t think so. (The movie sidesteps political points.) What they’re doing at Bangor International seems extraordinary." I'll let the Boston Globe's critique speak for itself.

Maybe its karma, my maternal grandfather Joseph Burdulis, a veteran of WWII and The Battle of the Bulge, passed away 10 years ago today. He was quite a character and could tell one heck of a story. The men depicted in the movie trailer remind me so much of him. I also recently had a good friend and co-worker ship out for 15 months to Afghanistan.

These 84 minutes may prove to be real good.
